After studying at Chetham’s School of Music with Peter Worrall, Tim gained a place at the RNCM where he was taught by Hannah Roberts and David Watkin (baroque cello). Since graduating, Tim has gone on to develop a varied career on both modern and period instruments.

As a modern cellist, Tim’s orchestral work has included orchestras such as the Halle, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata and Manchester Sinfonia whilst on period instruments, he is frequently to be found performing with The King’s Consort, the Classical Opera, Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, The Gabrieli Consort and the Academy of Ancient Music.

Tim holds cello teaching positions at the University of York, Junior RNCM and Yorkshire Young Musicians and during the summer he is a regular tutor on the Oxford Cello School.
